THE SULTAN AND THE FOOL
LOOKING FOR NORMAN
"It seems that almost every teacher boasts
of having a 100%pass rate these days
but that's not difficult to achieve;
after all you only need to gain 66%
of the total marks to pass a grade.
There is then a real danger of being
entered for the next grade not knowing
up to a third of what has gone before!
It is definitely not the fault of the pupil, but equally
not a clever way for a teacher to proceed.
Working at their pace, I ensure that all my pupils - regardless of age or ability - attain verifiable, exceptionally high pass marks in their instrumental, singing, theory and composition examinations.
Most are awarded 'Distinction' achieving marks well over 90%. They are then able to step up to the next level,
confident that they are armed with
the necessary knowledge and skill.
If children and adults really enjoy their music lessons and properly understand the reasons why they should practise their scales or study music theory, learning will happen much more quickly. They will then be well on the way to realising their dreams of being able to master their instrument, compose or sing properly, providing enjoyment
for everyone who hears them."
